Sudbury area guide

About the area

Sudbury is an ancient market town in Suffolk, one of the largest counties of England in East Anglia. Dating back to Saxon times and set in the heart of the Stour Valley and also an area of outstanding natural beauty, the market town of Sudbury is an ideal centre for both business and pleasure trips to East Anglia. The ever-improving road network, a rail link with Colchester to London and many cultural and sporting facilities, fine inns and hotels, makes Sudbury an excellent place to live.

Sudbury itself is worth exploring on foot, a small family friendly town with a shopping area (mostly full of chain shops but with a few great local shops), and a few good bars and restaurants. Fans of art history will be pleased to discover the house of Thomas Gainsborough on the appropriately named Gainsborough Street at the bottom of Market Hill.

Nowadays

Set in the heart of the Stour Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty, the market town of Sudbury is an ideal centre for both business and pleasure trips into East Anglia. Sudbury has been used for television locations, most significantly for BBC's Lovejoy. It is surrounded by the attractive countryside so often painted by Constable and Gainsborough and by quintessentially English villages. It is an ideal base for people who enjoy walking. Sudbury is surrounded by many beautiful villages and the Essex and Suffolk countryside including Dedham Vale and Constable Country, is not far away.

Our Sudbury branch covers residential sales and lettings and is a small, well established team with extensive experience in the industry. In addition to Sudbury, the branch has extensive coverage including (but not limited to), Great Cornard, Little Cornard, Acton, Long Melford, Middleton and Lavenham.
